Monzo was preparing to launch a pension product and needed a financial model that could stand up to scrutiny from the product team, the finance team, and external stakeholders. The brief was to build something accurate, transparent, and easy to update as assumptions changed.
The work covered the full commercial picture. Fee structure, contribution patterns, expected growth, cost to serve, and the sensitivity of each of those to realistic shifts in behaviour. Every input was documented and every calculation traceable, so the model could be handed over cleanly and owned internally.
The pension product is now live on the Monzo app, with the model still underpinning the numbers behind it.
